What our customers say about their holidays

    • Karen - Verified booking

Had a lovely bank holiday weekend stay with my family of 10 at the Old Stables.

( 6 adults & 4 Children) The conservatory has wonderful views and the property was warm and welcoming. 3 beautifully appointed upstairs bedrooms all with en-suit bathrooms . The ground floor didn't quite work for us as there is a room with bunk beds and a pull out sofa in the lounge. As some of the children were young they needed/wanted to be closer to their parents so we had adults using the sofa bed and bunks. That said, there were 10 of us and feel it would be perfect for 3 couples upstairs and older children on the ground floor. The Kitchen was very well equipped with everything and I mean everything you could think of... it has a 'shared' laundry room and other than not finding a broom , has everything available to use. I think my only negative was, there is a separate attached East Wing. This became occupied on our second day. There are no boundaries set and it was a little uncomfortable when the people there entered through the shared laundry room and sat on the garden chairs directly outside the stables. Looks like we are sharing a garden, they said !.........I couldn't say either way as I didn't know either. The pool house is warm and the water is too, great for young children . There are towels to use and although a little dated, was a great hit with the children. To get to the pool house, you need to go out through the garden and this needs better signage or even ' a sign' Overall, a lovely place to stay but maybe needs an easier booking system of pool sessions and some clarity of the grounds use with others!...

Avonside is a beautiful cottage, the conversion is innovative, well designed and executed, the photographs don't really do it justice.

It is in a stunning location right alongside The Avon with a pretty enclosed garden, safe for the dog. We were met by a generous "welcome pack" with everything to start off our visit, and there are local pubs and shops, including an excellent Co-Op within short walking distance. Pill itself is a charming village with an interesting history.Several of the pubs in Pill do food, but we had an excellent Christmas lunch in relaxed surroundings at the Rudgleigh Inn, a short drive away in Easton in Gordano. We booked a Christmas Eve visit to the National Trust's "Christmas at Tyntesfield" which was very special, and enjoyed a long walk at Kings Weston House where the dog friendly cafe provided a very welcome retreat from the rain. Just above the cottage there is a large open area, accessed just below the viaduct, for great walks hence a very happy dog. There are many towns and places to visit in north Somerset, visits to family and friends in the area took up much of our time, we will have to make a return visit. Access to the house is via steps but good hand rails are provided, and parking is a short distance away. The cottage provided very comfortable accommodation and everything we needed for a very relaxing stay. Thank you, we will return.

The Old Stables is a lovely barn conversion with stunning views.

It is comfortable and well equipped. But there are some issues that need sorting out. First and foremost is gaining entry on arrival. We were given a four digit code to access the key safe for entry to the property. There is no key safe, so we had to text the owners. (They have impaired hearing so voice calling is out of the question.) Fortunately they live close by and a lady came and let us in. Thankfully it wasn't raining while we were waiting. There are several windows with broken latches. A shower cubicle with a light that doesn't work. A heated towel rail that leaked water. The patio doors leading from the conservatory are very difficult to lock from the inside, we could only manage it from the outside then re enter the property through the kitchen patio door. These issues didn't spoil our stay but they need sorting out especially as this is a very expensive place to stay. Don't be put off from booking this property, the swimming pool is a real bonus and there are beautiful walks on your doorstep.

Thank you for a wonderful stay and first holiday as a family of four!

The cottage is a great location, around 20-30mins drive from Cheddar, Clevedon, Bristol, Bath and Weston Super Mare so we found plenty to do in the local area. Local pub and restaurant a short walk away. Chew Valley Animal farm was a great day out for us just a short drive away and Chew Magna has some lovely restaurants. Cottage is perfectly equipped and the owners are lovely, welcoming us with fresh flowers and eggs from the farm, as well as a daily chat and recommendations for the area. My son loved the free roaming animals and built a special love for the black lab, Betty, he was very sad to leave her. Bedrooms are great size and the whole place was cosy and like a home from home, we were all very sad to leave and hope to stay again soon. Thank you Jane and Dave for a great week.

Avonside cottage is very quirky property - quite small but very comfortable and the location is super peaceful and quiet (apart from the odd seagull fight over the water!

). It's definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the fact that you can't park right next to the house and there are steps get into the property. The kitchen has everything you need and the owners very kindly put milk and some treats in the fridge for us, which was lovely. The house was very clean and comfortable and being by the water meant the air was fresh and cool even on hot days. There is a co op store very close by and a bus goes regularly into Bristol, meaning there is no need to tackle city parking! The drive to Weston Super Mare is short and Bath isn't too far either. Overall the location is good for anyone who wants to stay put and bask in quiet, or who is willing to travel to see the many sights around Bristol. We had a great holiday.
